Safe Church, Safe Communities
Safe Church, Safe Communities (formerly Safeguarding God’s Children) provides participants with the information they need to protect the children they know and care for in their personal and professional lives. This training comes from an online course and is free.
Please allow 2-3 business days for your information to be entered into the system. Once that is completed, a message will be sent to the email address that you provided. It will contain your login, password and any other pertinent information needed for you to proceed with the training.
Training is required for all clergy, paid lay employees, and volunteers working closely with youth or shut-in and/or disabled persons. This includes youth choir directors, directors of Christian education, and youth group advisors. Clergy who have not attended these sessions within the last five years are required to attend to renew their awareness.
Additional Safe Church programming is available from The Episcopal Church by way of the Praesidium Academy. All clergy in the Diocese of West Virginia are required to undergo the full spectrum of training in these modules. Certain Lay Licenses for worship or ministry may require training as well. Please check with the appropriate licensing requirements and guidelines for more information on which modules are appropriate.
